Sorry, this car has SOLD
This car is beautifully finished in the distinguished colour of Sand/Light Gold metallic, with biscuit interior and chrome wire wheels. Detailed engine bay. Original engine fitted.
This is a very desirable example of the rare launch year 3.8 litre E type which ´stunned´ the world at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961.
Supplied new to Jaguar Cars in New York, the history file shows the car coming home to the UK in 1989 from Nevada USA via Gothenburg, Sweden when it was restored for a gentleman in Rotherham by M & C Wilkinson at a reported cost of £38,000. At this time the car was converted to Right Hand Drive and was rebuilt with a full synchromesh gearbox.
The car was displayed at the 1991 Essen Classic Car Show where it was well received and was reputedly sold to a German collector for a cool £55,000. The car then returned to the UK in 1996.
The current mileage since restoration of 09466 is believed to be correct. Certainly our review of the car would tend to support a low post restoration mileage. The paintwork and chrome are still in excellent order, with only very slightly patinated biscuit interior. The car is fitted with a period Motorola radio and six branch stainless steel exhaust manifold to assist engine breathing.
The last owner has spent £000´s in both looking after and improving the car for usability. Work has included the fitting of a Kenlowe fan, alternator conversion, unleaded head conversion, precautionary engine strip and check over, conversion to Series III front calipers and the fitting of slightly wider new chrome wire wheels (to improve road holding) and new knock ons. It also benefits from additional sound proofing to the cabin area. Taking into account specification, along with the car´s all-round condition, this is an extremely desirable early E type; ideal for grand touring holidays, continental tours and club events.
Viewings are invited when you will have the chance to speak to the engineer who prepared the car.
Well priced for a rare launch year E type in this condition
