At Lanhydrock , which is family owned and whose black Labrador is featured as the Director on their website, the emphasis is on affordable luxury. Interior designers have worked closely with the owners to bring an understated light, contemporary, opulent feel to the rooms, almost all of which have views of the wooded valleys surrounding the Hotel. Dining is in the Nineteen Bistro which features a wall of glass offering a fantastic view of the grounds while you relax and enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner.

From Lanhydrock Hotel & Golf Course there are many routes to choose in your classic car for a day out. Driving in this part of Cornwall is very easy, enjoyable and offers plenty of stunning coastal or inland scenery. Bodmin Moor with its famed Jamacia Inn, immortalized in Daphne Du Maurier’s novel is close by as is the Eden Project with its ever changing displays and exhibitions.

Charlestown at St Austell is a fascinating undeveloped and unspoilt, small harbour village. These days it is home to a beautiful collection of old ships that are used in film projects all over the world; there is good car parking and a selection of places to eat while you wander round the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre.
