16th September 2001
At this year’s Royal Cornwall Show, 13th, 14th & 15th September, visitors had the opportunity to win a hire of the sportscar of their choice by entering a competition in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. Entrants estimated the number of balloons enclosed in the 1966 Jaguar E type with the closest entry winning this wonderful prize.
Marie Curie Cancer Care and Cornwall Classic Car Hire teamed up to raise funds for this important cause and offered a three day hire of the car of the winner’s choice as first prize.
Rob Constant, owner of Cornwall Classic Car Hire said ‘we are delighted to be able to help Marie Curie Cancer Care as their work is of great importance to those affected by cancer. Opportunities such as these to put something back into the community are well worth taking’.
Cornwall Classic Car Hire provide a chance for people to sample fine classic sportscars. The vehicles on offer range from a 1966 Jaguar E type, 1948 MG TC Midget to a 1974 Triumph Stag.
The funds raised by this initiative will be used to support local community nursing in Cornwall as Marie Curie nurses provide practical care to people with cancer whilst remaining in the comfort of their own homes.
Lynda Thomas, Community Fund Raising Manager said of the competition ‘I am delighted that Cornwall Classic Car Hire are supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care by raising the vital funds needed to maintain our services here in Cornwall. I wish them every success!’
