Cornwall Named Best UK Holiday Destination

Yesterday evening at the British Travel Awards Cornwall was named the Best UK Holiday Destination.
Open to all UK holiday destinations awards are decided by public vote and as such best represents the views of the consumer. Over 20% of the votes for this category were awarded to Cornwall taking it into number one spot ahead of last year's winner, the Lake District.
The Grand Awards Gala Evening was held at Battersea Evolution, one of London's outstanding event venues, and Steve Kessell of VisitCornwall was there to collect the trophy. He said:
"Being awarded the title of Best UK Holiday Destination is a fantastic honour for Cornwall. Not only does it recognise the hard work of the industry but it also shines the national spotlight on Cornwall. The fact that it is based on public opinion makes it even more significant as it comes from those people that count, those that vote with their feet!"
