Although 1961 saw the birth of a car synonymous with the word sportscar, (although in context is perhaps more a sporting grand tourer than out and out sportscar), the very first 3.8 litre E-type was not without its fair share of problems; cooling, brakes, gearbox and seating were all far from perfect.

As such we have selected two excellent examples of the later 4.2 litre Series 1 E-type for you to enjoy driving. Versions that are almost identical in appearance to the original E type which ‘stunned the world’ and yet incorporate the benefits of several year’s production.If you speak to the Jaguar experts they will tell you that this is the version of the E-type to drive - straight six, 4.2 litre double overhead cam, with the classic E-type appearance. The perfect choice for anyone who has ever watched the Italian Job and winced as the E type careered down the side of the cliff!
