'The Quintessential British Sportscar'
The MG B is "a classic car you can really use... And you'll be turning up in a car whose looks should have made Enever as much a household name as Pininfarina".
'Classic Cars' Magazine Readers Poll - November 2003
Voted 2nd Favourite Classic Car of All Time
The MG B - surely the quintessential British sportscar and in British Racing Green is almost as great a motoring icon as the E type.
Designed by Syd Enever and styled by Don Hayter the MG B replaced the aging 'A' in 1962 and won a huge following in both the UK and across the Atlantic that unbelievably led to a production life that spanned three decades...
Such is the popularity of the MG B with sportscar enthusiasts that even today it holds the record for the largest number of a single design of sportscar produced anywhere in the world. In fact the MG B was so popular that it was produced in greater numbers than the total of all other MG models ever produced at Abingdon!
However, our MG B is far from just any old example of this classic sportscar design. It is perhaps the car MG should indeed have later produced in Roadster guise.
Fitted with a Rover 3.5 litre V8 engine in a professionally converted British Motor Heritage bodyshell this MG B has been rebuilt during the nineties to a very high standard and has only covered a limited mileage since. Coupled to the V8 is the desirable 5-speed conversion which allied with the greater power range improves considerably on the more modest performance of a 'standard' B.
Roadholding is excellent as the rebuild has included conversion to B GT V8 specification with other sensible upgrades and improvements to allow for the increased power output. Running on Minilites this car looks and feels the part. Be warned; drive this MG and you'll want one!
Come to Cornwall and find out why we price our V8 more expensive than other MG Bs that are available...
